
Whether it is due to growing up with a highly sensitive sympathetic nervous system or due to experiencing overwhelming life events (such as relentless stress, psychological trauma or grief), our bodies can sometimes hold onto and lock into a very guarded default setting. Some people are aware of how defensive their nervous system is and how this manifests in their body, while others manage to mask their physical and psychological tension from themselves and the world.
Somatic therapies (such as certain bodywork interventions) focus on the mind-body connection and can assist you to reconnect with your body in a safe, supported and even sublime way, to help you remember that you capable of accessing deep states of peace.
Somatic therapies do not seek to rush your healing as you move through your unique process. Some situations (such as recovery from trauma and rebalancing after the loss of a loved one) requires time and patience. An experienced and compassionate facilitator can be helpful.
Dr Tanith Davidson offers various supportive interventions for addressing these mind-body challenges, whether for rebalancing a guarded sympathetic nervous system or to assist with gently processing grief and trauma. She employs the profoundly soothing Polynesian Floor Treatment (combined with Kahuna breath work) and homeopathic remedies that assist with processing big emotions, suppressed emotions, grief and trauma. For those who have already made some progress in their healing journey Kahuna Bodywork can take them even deeper.
For your first Trauma Release or Grief Processing Session we usually book 120 minutes, although we may only need 90 minutes. You will only be charged for the time taken. This is because your first session will involve an assessment of where you are at in your somatic journey, followed by a 75 minute Polynesian Floor Treatment. As such your initial assessment and planning for any possible future sessions may take 15 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on your unique situation. Click here to review our rates page.
